Golden Belt Model Railroad Association

Dedicated to advancing the hobby of Model Railroading through education and advocacy,
as well as to promote fellowship among model railroaders.

ABOUT GBMRA

The association was founded in 2003 by Jim Ruby of Great Bend, Kansas. Our membership comes from Great Bend and the surrounding communities. We are proud of our organization, and hope that you find the information about the History of Barton County Railroads interesting.

The Golden Belt Model Railroad Club have six layout displays which members have built together. The displays are heavily-detailed in a specific scale. Some are multi-scaled with no particular scale, however  depending to the skill level and amount of time spend creating the display.

Railroad scaling varies from super-sized “G” scale that runs on a 1-3/4” track, down to “Z”, whose track measures 1/4 inch from rail to rail. The more popular scales are “O,” “S,” and “HO” in the mid-range, but “N” on a smaller end is gaining popularity.
